For me, forum marketing is very effective. I am getting traffic from forum marketing, social networking and also from search engine. Traffic source varies depending on the niche. Just do some trial and error for finding the most useful source.
It's really all about quality traffic, which can mostly only come from search engines. So I'd say SEO is the way to go. However, it's very difficult to make any progress in highly competitive keywords.
Oh boy, there are just so many. I've found though that I can get overwhelmed with all the different types of traffic that are out there, especially realizing that they can EACH make you a lot of money. Recently, I've taken to "trying" to focus on just one traffic method and mastering it before I move on to the next. I am trying to prevent the overwhelming feeling that comes from jumping from advertising method to advertising method. Right now for me, it's YouTube. I'll let you know how it works out!
