Best way to add links

Hi, I have a brand new site and have a list of similar sites willing to exchange links with me, all good :)

My question is should I add them gradually (theres around 70) or can I add them all at once (across a couple of pages)?

    Thanks

    Dee

It is better to add them gradually, like a natural link development.

Hi, thanks for the reply, well I initially added around 25 to get me started, I will add the others in blocks of 5 per day as you suggested.

One more question, is it best to limit the number of links on one page, i.e 50 ?

    Thanks

Ideally you should have links be about 10-20% of the copy on a given page.

It's about proportion, not quantity (within reason - if you hit 300+ links on a page you're likely hosed).

If the links make sense, and they have relevant copy around them, they'll get you more oomph. That's a technical term.

Hi, you say 10-20%, but I am putting the lins on a dedicated page, so the only other contents will be the header, side menus (which hold a small bit of text) menu and a couple of text links.

So if I keep it to 70 a page, I should be alright?

Also is 5 a day the most you should add, or could it be 10, or is that pushing it?

    Thanks

    Dee

My suggestion is to split them up into "resource1", "resource2", etc
Put 10 on each page but do it gradually don't put them all on at once.
The same as you would do for submitting to directories, take it nice and easy :)

    5 a day is a nice amount

Hi, sorry what I meant was how many links should I ideally have on one page?
I don't want pages and pages of links, so if I could have maybe 50 -70 on each page I could spread them across 2 pages.

I will keep to to the 5 a day :)

Dee... i know you don't want pages and pages of links, but Google doesn't want links and links and links and links on one page... and since you have to cater to them if you want the benefits from them, then thats what you need to do.

And, if you're doing reciprocal niether of the links will really benefit you or the people you are linking with... you'll get a small benefit, but not much at all...

Google may see your page as a link farm.

Breakaway is correct...IMO, ditch the reciprocal linking and just get one ways...much better and you will retain the progress you have made.

    Best;

Make sure not to have over 100 links on any page under 50 is best. Add them over time and make sure everyone ads your link or you loose page rank.

i think you could get away with posting more than 10 links a day, at the end of the day it is leaving your site not landing on it should have less impact
