Do you wish to take the backup on the same server or other server ?

Rsync has it's security concerns (insecure service, and is unencrypted). What I usually recommend to my clients is creating a backup with tar, and then transfer that file offsite to another server over SFTP. The advantages to this is:

    1.) It's encrypted.
2.) Two backups are made. One is local, one is stored remotely.
3.) A local backup is available for quick restores. Nothing is worse than taking 2+ hours to transfer files over the Internet when a website is down!

I have a secondary drive on my (dedicated) server with full daily mirror/backups, but i still keep remote backups of the files and databases that i do manually, at least once per week.
My databases take up more space than my files.. i just do a MySQL export, Gzip and download. For the files, i just do SFTP copies..

    thanks all

how about using plesk for sending files to remote server?

my system is linux - plesk- my data is about 1.5 gigs and only one site
    on dedicated server

it seems i can get one acount of vps servers (10 gigs space
24 dollars) or even (6 gigs space 10 dollars)
I make plesk to send daily or weekly...oautomatically or handy..
