Personally I recommend AVG Free, it runs on Vista without a problem, it also does not require nearly as much RAM as Norton

I also have Norton. I haven't had that problem but I have heard of that problem on Vista. I think McAfee is really the way to go, but it costs much more

After trying many over the years, I like AVG. Has antispyware and antivirus in one package. Of course, having SpyWareBlaster as a preventative measure sure helps.

AVG doesn't really work for me anymore. I stopped using it since I've discovered Kapersky. NOD32 works as well but I'm better of with Kapersky.

AVG 8. It's free and just look for reviews on it, it has never failed to remove a virus and uses minimal resources. Turn linkscanner off though.

I have tried them all, I have to recommend NOD32. It's the lightest and best antivirus program ever. I never worry about a virus.

I'm now with McAfee although it uses too much resources but if you really do have a powerful system, I would say go with McAfee. In term of prices, they are not expensive.
