    Not sure if someone mentioned it already but I've had a lot of success with AVS.
    Though there is a free version available I believe; just not sure if it's exactly what your looking for.

    Hi :) I will suggest avs converter. Btw, for apple user's, i just discovered the fastest way to convert .avi format to .mp4 app named handbreak :)

    Try FormatFactory. It's free and very useful to convert things back and forth including audio and images. :)

    I use it three years ago, but now it is not really free, for it has the pay version, so I just google and find some other professional video converter, finally i find a Higosoft video converter and then convert my video to swf and flv for Web.
