What are your opinions on the best value for permanent link building?

    Payperpost at around $4/post?

Link building services here on DP for somewhere around $2/link?

Professional SEO firms link building services for around $5-$10/link or per hour charges?

    Other methods of link building?

Are you trying to sell your service, or find a good service?

Those prices seem high too me.

I'm trying to find good service. Could you please clarify why a blog post doesn't count as a link? Don't they generally include a backlink that helps with SEO?

I meant blog post doesn't equal to link completely!
The price is not high IMO.Usually I write a blog post for around $30!
It depends on the quality of the links!

I think the best value is to submit some articles for yourself :)

When it comes to building links for google optimization, quality links are what works. I would use pay per inclusion on relevant websites that have high PR. also, do some link building yourself. Write articles on your industry and submit those to article website.
