Writing articles is time consuming. Once I've written a good quality article, what's the best place to put it? I could post it on the blog associated with my website, or I could submit it to eZine or another article directory? What should I do to get the most out of it?

I agree writing a good article is time consuming. I think ezine is good as are a number of other high pr, ezine is a 6, buzzle is either a 5 or 6 and goarticles is a 5pr but I have some problems with the seo friendly nature of goarticles. I think posting it on your blog is possibly a good idea- what is its pr? what is the traffic? You could also post it on your blog/site. I would market the article as well by submitting to social bookmarking sites-digg, delicious, stumbleupon........., consider blog commenting with a link back to the article. Some suggest listing it on another article directory but some directories do not want it if it has been posted elsewhere. Be sure to optimize it for seo purposes. Rinse, dry, repeat! Good Luck!

you should be doing both. post on your blog and at the same time submit some to the article directories.

Post the orginal article on yoru blog,
then rewrite it 5 times again and submit it to Ezine, Articlebase, Buzzle, Goarticles and AC, to get backlinks to your orignal article, as simple as that.

I submit my articles to my two blogs plus about 15 article directories. Seems to work well, and I don't change the article - just submit the same one every time.

You say it's time consuming but I don't agree. Takes about 2 hours to write and submit and I get around 17 links back to the site. That's time well spent in my opinion.

Try avoiding duplicate content when submitting articles to multiple directories...

ColeenB, I am only replying to your thread because you said "good articles" which makes me assume that you actually care about the quality of your content.

Yes, producing quality material takes time and effort, and once you do it, my humble opinion is that it's best to put it on your own site or blog. Keep adding good content to your own site and it will eventually become an authority in your industry. Of course, this obviously means your articles will need to be good in every sense of the word, and you will also need to promote your site a little (for which you may want to submit smaller or less elaborate articles to directories) but keep doing what you love to do and constantly enrich your own site. There's no way you can't have a truly great website if you do this.
