Best URL redirection?

I have 2 sites, 1 of them ranks well in google for a decent search term but the domain is rubbish and not easy to remember (its the domain that makes it rank well however -sounds strange i know).

What is the best way to keep the content indexed but for every page to redirect to my new sites homepage?

Can it even be done?

You have one site with a crap domain and you want to keep it indexed with the new domain as well?

What i want is something whereby EVERY page on the old domain automaticlly redirects to the homepage on the new domain

from what ive read it needs to be a 301 redirect - is this correct?

 

I went to my godaddy account and set up URL forwarding to do a 301 redirect to my new site.

When i check various sites it says the redirect is in place but it doesnt load up the new site automatically do i need to do that seperately?

 

set redirection url for each in ur .htaccess file

 

it changed all of my sites on the same hosting plan to redirect to the new site
