Hi All, I like to know which one Adsense considers as genuine & valid traffic ? 1) Traffic that comes directly to our website (by directly typing in the website name in browser) 2) Traffic from Search Engines 3) Traffic from links from other websites
I consider all traffic is good as long as it is targeted traffic and the user reads your articles (not that StumbleUpon or Digg traffic when the user leaves in under 30 seconds).
All three are good, though I'd say that 1 and 2 are better. A person directly coming to your site is likely to be interested in it, same for getting there through a search engine. Links from other sites can be good or bad depending on what they were interested in and where they ended up on your site.
People coming to our website by word of mouth. And they directly coming to our site without any reference links or search engine.
2 (search) is the best and 3 (referrer) is decent. 1 (type in) is often return visitors who are kinda numb to advertisements.
I think all three types of traffic that you mention are considered genuine. Now conversion from that traffic would then decide if it's valuable or not, not the traffic itself. I think the only traffic Adsense would consider "bad" would be autosurfs, traffic exchange etc. So the question then becomes; which traffic converts well? On this point I totally agree with abercrombie: 1) Search Engine traffic (Highly targeted towards specific content) 2) Referrers 3) Direct Traffic (Most likely return visitors who already know about the site)
From my experience SE traffic converts the best compared to those coming from links. You should constantly use SEO to rank high in the SERP's.
I think quality traffic can come from anywhere; directories, direct, bookmarks, SE. As long as the page follows adsense TOS, it's all good.
Sorry for my ignorance. But what is Conversion ? If the user comes to our website and stays for some time (or probably registers at our website), is that a conversion ? (Or) If the user comes to our website and clicks on a Google Ad link, is that a conversion ? (Or) If the user comes to our website and clicks on a Google Ad link, and performs an action there (like signing up a form) at the ad website, is that a conversion ?
Search engine traffic is best but only if you can keep your SERP high. The second best is referral traffic coming from other websites. This kind of traffic is never lasting as long as that website is alive. And referral traffic as well as search engine traffic is genuine and valid traffic for adsense. People typing your website name knows very well about your websites, they are your regular visitors. More likely they will not be interested in your ads. They will be interested in your contents, so not much benifit in terms of money.
