I was about to list a site on flippa and it occurred to me that there might be better times of the year to sell on there. ANyone flippa.com watchers notice any seasonal trrends in buyer behavior on there?
There is no real seasonal trend to analyze to see your maximized price for your website. If you have a webste of value you will get a fair price.
Ok. So should I avoid xmas or no? I was thinking of doing a 1 week which would give the psychologoical urgency and before xmas. Or a 1 month which would end after the holidays. any input?
Flippa is very consistent year round. I have bought and sold over 200 sites through and on their site.
You might get a better deal on Flippa around the holidays because people ordinarily bidding would be occupied with shopping etc and not have time to search for websites on Flippa.
Never try to sale website on other special events like Xmas because at this time businesses allow holidays to there employee and even at this time flippa also get low trafic on there site..
I think you just gotta hope that you list it when your ideal buyer views the site! With that in mind I'd recommend to list it for the maximum length of time to maximize the number of unique views it gets... That is if you aren't in a rush of course!
Pretty much our take - if it doesn't sell the first time round, then keep re-listing as there are those who regularly check Flippa, then there are those that check in every once in a while.
Per the moment, my adult novelty site on their is not doing very hot even at its low start; hopefully that changes. I do think around the holidays is bad time to list.
I like to buy off Flippa during the end of the year. That seems to be when the best sites roll out. I think it's because people are liquidating their sites in order to buy their relatives Christmas gifts or something along those lines. I could be wrong though.
Id like to ask here since some of you are flippa users.... What happens during the escrow process if I transfer the domain to the buyer, but the buyer says that he did not recieve it and changes the whois to a name other than he is using with escrow, or sets the whois to private? is there any sort of protection here?
Any experiences? Although I think it mostly depends on WHAT you're selling, regardless of time-of-year...
Right now might be a good time to sell actually. I bought my first website at flippa right after receiving my income tax refund back. This was in March of 2007.
