Hi, what is the best strategy mix to drive backlinks to a site? I know blogs are good as are articles, but what else do u suggest and how much focus on each compared to the other do u make? thanks fuzz
From my experience blogs are great. Articles can be harder but still great. Make sure you submit to top-level directories in your area, and you can always put a signature below your posts.
Thanks for the reply When u say blogs, do u mean commenting or do u mean actually having a blog tied to a site? Thanks again Fuzz
It really depends on your niche. Is it possible to write a blog on your material? If so, then you should definitely write one. It would be pretty hard to write a blog on mine, though, so I try commenting.
You can also submit to directories. One thing I do is subscribe to google alerts ans set up alerts for my name , web site and keywords. When one of my articles get picked up I post a comment thanking them for posting my article and I slip in another deep link to an upsell or something. If its someone elses article or blog I post a comment and sometimes even a suggestion to join my affiliate program. I've picked up a few decent affiliates that way.
The best links to your site are links from related sites that recommend your web site in the normal text.
Thanks for the replies Regarding blog commenting - does the name i use for blog comments have to be a keyword or is this considered spam? Thanks Fuzz
When blog commenting have a look at previous posts to see if using your keyword as the name is allowed. You will find a lot of blogs allow this practice and wordpress even have a widget out for it. Just remember to sign off with your real name at the bottom of your post Jason
