I just registered a domain I plan on using in the near future. What can I do to help its rankings when I actually release the live site?

    Thanks,
    -Chris

I find I can install Wordpress and make a few posts about my thoughts, plans for the site in 15 minutes. That seems to work well. If your plans for the site don't include a blog I would make a single static home page and link to the blog from that.

Get a few incoming links with appropriate anchor text and then "let it grow". Try to add some sort of "content dripping" solution. Nothing spammy or anything, but something that will continually add new content every so often. Think creatively. :)
