Hi there - I am a web designer and I have looked at several proposal/contract sites but everything I have found in the SERPS seems a bit outdated and I wander where anyone else that does web consulting or design/build goes (besides hiring an expensive lawyer) to get there contracts or proposals to pass with a solid legal foundation that isn't 25 pages and scares off customers???

If you are doing business you need to be prepared to hire a lawyer. Really you should have one on retainer, especially if you plan on designing things that have to do with copyright. On top of that, you need to have a lawyer in your area draft it because each state and county has their own laws that contracts must abide with. An internet page or random on a forum isn't going to be able to give you what you need.
