I agree with the above - best to not isolate yourself from the code as there are many occasions when even a designer has to delve into the code to recitify a problem. Get yourself a good text editor - dreamweaver is the obvious choice - and then get on w3c and get coding!
hireindians dot net makes static websites for $ 100 only. You cant get cheaper than this. Better to outsource work to Hire Indians instead of learning programing. I suggest drupal. I have used joomla in the past and security wise, it was a nightmare (and yes, I even kept it updated) The learning curve of drupal is steep, but it is an extremely powerful cms!
I've got to agree. There are plenty of programs offering templates and WYSIWYG design tools, but in my experience they add too much clutter to the page and ultimately the time spent learning the basics and good practice will pay dividends in the long run. I tried a trial version of Dreamweaver and quickly gave up as it was so complicated in comparison to going back to basics. I'm sure that in the right hands, Dreamweaver is an excellent tool, but expensive for the average user who will only use a tiny fraction of what's available.
try wordpress, . . . thats powerfull you can build newspaper, magazine, fotogalery, online shop,. . . . etc
sorry to asking you.. what kind of editor do you used after you image was slicing by photoshop? Frontpage?
for blogging best using Wp, and for commercial and complex web using Joomla. I love Wp for blogging, very usefull
i vote for wordpress.. It is the best "software".. For editing source file, you need notepad+++ or editPlus, it is the best software for source editor
Hi all, Just adding some more hints to the conversation. If you are a Linux user you can use "bluefish" editor for HTML, PHP, CSS all kind of web authoring. It requires coding in to some extend but as couple of guys advised here I also recommend for you to learn basic HTML, CSS, and bit of a PHP. Using a framework is good in RAD environment but in long run it's not going to be a good choice. Good luck with your work.

this is so true, I made a couple compete crap websites this way and am now paying to have them done right. Don't do it. I thought I was way cool when I followed some tuts on slicing and basic DW and wow the pages actually worked. Only thing, they sucked, they load slow, they cannot be edited or repaired without completely redoing them. Never again.
I haven't used Dreamweaver in years but I thought it's focus was on WYSIWYG, not text-based editing? Learn the code and write your pages in code. Visual editors write horrible code (although not as bad as they used to). I use phpDesigner for both PHP and HTML.
Did you try Soholaunch? Vodahost offers that as well. Can you tell us what you don't like about Blue Voda?
Well, if you want to spend some time learning a little html so you can manipulate the site the way you want, then i would suggest using Dreamweaver in Split screen mode and by following an html cheatsheet, otherwise, if you want to jump straight into it, use wordpress.
