Here's the contest/challenge: Using social networking, (i.e. facebook, twitter, myspace, blogging, forums, video sharing, etc) to advertise and build a buzz and sell as many tickets as possible (capacity 5,500) to an outdoor music festival in New Mexico. Tickets are $35 each. You have one month until showtime. You have $1000 budget. Please detail what would you do to market the show? Keeping in mind that someone is already handling the other aspects of marketing, so while you are somewhat "restricted" to the aforementioned avenues, the marketing team will work with you if you have a good idea that involves the broader Internet. You could build an app for the sites, where they can go through listening to some examples of the music, and view some pictures from previous years. Then on the app, have a link to buy the tickets and things happening at the event.
Create a group or event on facebook, you'd be better off creating an event... add as many people as possible... the event feature on facebook has the option "Attending" or "Not attending" when the user joins the group... put details of where tickets can be brought... You should also write down any big dj/singer/artists that will be attending to make it sound worth going... would be simple finding users in the Mexican network... you'd be good adding around 2,000 people or more.... depending on your needs and sending them invites to the group.. spam invite, tinyurl it and constantly post it in your status... linking to the facebook event you created. Or you could do what every other promoter does... get a banner/poster designed or use one that might of already been made for the event... and purchase/download (i do not know if its freeware) "myspace freind blaster"... get a list of freind ID's of myspace users in Mexico or local to the event and with myspace freind blaster you can add all of the people you listen and send them a message/comment... with the poster/banner. youtube... you could compile a video of the event if you have clips from previous years... if not compile a video with performances from wichever artists/dj's etc on there basicly advertising what will be showing at the outside event

Facebook: 1. Make an event page, list all the informations that you think needed to give. Also give infos about where to buy the ticket. 2. Look for artist's Page on Facebook (if any) and give some advertisment post on their wall. Give link to your event page. 3. Invite all your facebook friends. 4. Use Facebook Advertisment Service. Other site: 1. Post information about the event on the Related forum. 2. With $1000 budget, you can hire blogger to make a reviews about the events and all information you want to give. Go to some paid review site and look for some quality blogger on this niche to do this (or you can place here in DP forum). 3. Look for artist's fans page/ blog/ forums and make announcement there.
Additional tips. Go to video sharing site. Look for the artist's video and place announcement there. You may also need to make a simple landing page contain all infos (if you dont want, you can refer all link to Facebook Event page).
