Hi, I know this is off topic, but I want to install a shopping cart on my website. I have never installed one before and I guess it will be just as difficult(if not more) as it was while I was testing out various forums and came to the conclusion that SMF is the best !! This, however, will be more difficult because I has experience with forums but still have none with shopping carts. I need to know which cart is the best in terms of (in no particular order) : 1. Ease of use (Admin) 2. Ease of use (Customer) 3. Support staff 4. Ease of initial configuration 5. Ease of upgradation 6. Ease of troubleshooting 7. Etc ... Please suggest the best cart and please also provide the reasons for doing so ... Thanks
Zencart is the best one. I am using the same for my site - http://www.onlinerakhistore.com Its very easy to configure and use. There is also Mod for SEO on Zencart so after installing the same you can have advantage of SEO feature also. If you stuck anywhere you can always go to forum and ask for help on zencart.com
Hello joyboy2001, Try Avactis shopping cart. Avactis is easy from many points of view: installations, easy backend management, easy integration with the existing web site. You will be able to manage Avactis with basic HTML and PHP skills. With osCommerce it will be very difficult since you will need very good PHP skills.
I would suggest oscommerce. There are a lot of free contribution where you can tweak your shopping cart in less than 10 minutes.
Most of the carts you listed are about the same in terms of difficulty and usability (cubecart and zencart both originated from oscommerce). 4 of the ones you have listed are fairly easy to setup and manage (Agora, Oscommerce, Cubecart, and Zencart). Interchange is a really nasty system that takes alot of technical knowledge to properly use. I don't recommend it to anybody except the most hardcore perl coders.
I don't have much in store as far as PHP skills are concerned ... I can find and replace code in specific files ... Code should have been made by other programmers ... I hope this info helps in making the right choice for me ...
Zen-Cart by far!!!! Great forum with a lot of helpful people and the programmers are very active in the forum. Though a tad difficult at first to wrap your head around it does get easy. As for the comment zen-cart came from oscommerce is incorrect A couple of the designers did not like the way things were going and teamed up took there ideas and codes and created another cart which is far superior to oscommerce.
You can have one here http://tinyurl.com/ you can paste it on Myspace ebay Yahoo stores Google base Our shopping cart has a built in sales tax, VAT and shipping & packaging calculator. Or you can buy my script see signature below
The best shopping cart i think is AWBS. Very good, and generates auto invoices, its possible to make auto accounts on your site after paying. Checks for fraud also with plugin: Fraudgrabber
I've never even heard of the first 2. I'm leaning towards Zen cart although I haven't tried things out enough to really know.
