Ok have spent the day going through every search engine result for shopping carts, and every thread here for the best shopping cart, still not decided which cart I will choose Specific requirements and cost aside, which shopping cart is 1.the most reliable 2.powerful 3.easiest to modify 4.User friendly 5.best features 6.Most supported (through community, support tickets,or through tutorials) 7.easiest to modify,or find ready made templates also include any options available for CMS HOPEFULLY THIS WILL HELP Thanks for taking part
I've only used WP-eCommerce, so my opinion is kind of bias. I liked it from what I did, though! Good luck choosing one
Well I have installed WP-ecommerce on a test site, and its a user friendly Wordpress plugin, everything seems to work, but i had a few small issues which i found answers just through search requests. I havent had the opportunity to actually see it fully functioning. There are a lot of complaints floating around about people having serious difficulties with this plugin-invalid coding, gateway failure and a ton of other bugs. The general consensus I get is people want this to be the cool plugin they hoped it was and wish it will be some day. I think this forum link to wordpress.org would be useful to read.A lot of WPEC users who are not all that happy. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/290996
Just checking out the open cart community, there a lot of things to like about-the community itself, the management, and the shopping cart Worth checking out http://forum.opencart.com/index.php
I tried Magento, oscommerce, creaload, prestashop wp oscommerce... ecommerce plugin for joomla and druppa. i tried because i was looking for a solution for one client...For me because i'm not a programmer and i would like somethong esay to manage i choosed prestashop..but after launch the Ecommerce projets some feature was limited..Now maybe i will choose Magento but Prestashop got some update...try the both ..
Just been checking out AJ Cart-it looks very slick-quite a big price tag though, seems to be recommended a lot as far as a commercial application
And Zeus Cart is the free version of AJ Cart-yeah not bad, obviously not as good as AJ Also had a look at Prestashop-easy admin, decent features
Have any of you tried Quickcart.com? I've been using it for years and it's really great. Theres nothing like having the designers of the software available for customer service. It's not free, but it lets you try it out with the free demo. Highly recommended.
Have noticed a couple of bugs in the online demo of AJ Shopping cart, doesnt exactly inspire me with confidence I called them-the U.S. toll free number re-directs to a call centre in India-not that its a problem, but I just couldnt understand what they were saying Payment can only be done through Moneybookers,Liberty Reserve,Western Union,or bank transfer Their forum is not active, and not much of a community I am not saying they have a bad product, but I am not convinced at the moment.
We used CRE Loaded for years, had no problems easy to use , open source, many developers are using it and creating add ons , shame it wasn't on the poll.
Just checked out Cre loaded, good active community, one feature they mention is the fact that they are PCI compliant-free and paid versions of their script
Ok I came across Vendio.com Free cart, free hosting, unlimited products-Their fees come into play when you add your products to Ebay and Amazon It may be a good solution for some people
I have to provide a shopping cart solution for a client, who will have a factory producing food I cant take a chance on the cart-it must function And if it doesnt -I must have a plan in place to find the problem and fix it quickly I have been in contact with several companies (some of whom I would have a lot of faith in) who for a fairly large fee,can promise me a custom built cart that will be bomb proof. I wonder at that, they are basically saying, shopping cart technology is not a big deal to code for any more-hmmmm Then what the f**k have all these shopping cart communities been doing all this time-producing carts with tons of bugs, security risks, etc Is it just a case that with a community effort a stable cart is a difficult proposal? (a camel is a horse designed by a committee) I dont see that as the case-there are very intelligent people behind these projects. Yeah,I love many of the carts out there (Open Cart,Magento,Presta Shop etc)-and I had hoped for WP-ecommerce to be the winner, cause all my sites are built on Wordpress, BUT In my opinion after a LOT of research-one of the uglist carts out there is the winner for me-Zen Cart Stable, big active community, well tested,no problem finding a solution to any problem that may arise, can be skinned to look more appealing. What swung it for me (besides the fact that I have been seeing a lot of happy users) was a trusted member of a very large forum who runs all their ecommerce businesses on Zen,and said for them it was like Wordpress, ugly out of the box-but who cares, can be themed, and tons of plugins-but more importantly, they trusted the platform. So if there is a change I will post it here,(I have a couple more days of research) but at the moment its Zen Good luck on your own shopping cart journey.
Would you like to add TomatoCart to the poll lists? It's also a great shopping cart. Thanks in advance.
