    If your keyword competition is high the best solution is to find longer versions of your keyword. Find a three word version that gets at about 100,000 search requests a month. Find three different long keywords and then check out other sites that use those versions of keywords.

    Use those longer keywords in the resources you mentioned and your traffic will pick up.
