    Me personally, I would probably save up the first three months, get the required $299 for a review, and submit to the Yahoo! Directory for a high-quality link that uses my highest-priority keywords as the anchor text.

    In Webmaster Tools, Google used to recommend Yahoo! Directory by name for you to submit to.

    I've not heard anything about them shutting down.

    They said the same about mybloglog and it didn't. They are still alive and kicking. And I think as long as they do make money from those sites, they'll continue them.
