I'm planning on creating (transferring old sites into blogs) some WP blogs but I have a few doubts regarding the optimal SEO strategies to make the posts links similar to standard html pages. I've been doing some research on the best plug-ins that will take care of this but I would like to know if any of you with experience have the right tools (plug-ins) to accomplish this. For instance, I will be submitting articles to articles directories and for my resource box attached to my articles I want to have anchored text links pointing to my blog (specific targetting keyword posts) with a short URL format like: http://www.my-blog-url-domain-here.com/targetting-keyword-post.html - I don't know if the .html extension is the only one I can use - Is the above possible? If it is, what's the best way to do it. Also, if I were to have the above URL format, would it be possible to have the actual post archived in a specific category? Something like: http://www.my-blog-url-domain-here.com/cat/targetting-keyword-post.html So, in essense I would be able to advertise a link like: http://www.my-blog-url-domain-here.com/targetting-keyword-post.html but this post will be found with no problem in its corresponding category later when it gets replaced by a new post in the front page of my blog (domain name). The other doubt I had was regarding the tittle of the post. Does the post title always (by default) becomes "post-title".html ? Is there a way I can manipulate it? For instance, let's say I have a WordPress post tittled: "Top Ten Google Adsense Tactics To Get A Higher CTR" and I don't want it to end up in the following .html page: "Top-Ten-Google-Adsense-Tac.html" Is there something I can do to change it into: "Top-Adsene-Tactitcs.html" for example? I'll really appreciate your input. Thanks for your support in advance!
I am not sure if workpress can be manipulated to show the .html extension to the post. I do know that you can you can control the page name of your post: Ex. "Top Ten Google Adsense Tactics To Get A Higher CTR" In the post slug section, you can set what you want the page name to be instead of wordpress filling the field for you when it gets saved or published.
For best SEO in wordpress, make sure the content is on the left, sidebar on the right. Use %postname% for permalinks. Grab optimal_title.php plugin, which puts the post title first, and then the blog title in the page title. Voila!
not sure about the html question, but it'll be great if you could use the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin to insert your keywords on the same page, before, after or even within a post.
