    VB with VBSEO installed. I get alot more search engine traffic now to my forum and I'm almost 3 months into using vbseo.

    i think phpbb is the best seo friendly friendly forum software ,
    however you need to use some mod to make it SEO Friendly.

    vBulletin is definitely a very search engine friendly system, with vB SEO you have a very SEO friendly community. But you do not need vB SEO to really make it SE friendly, it is SE friendly itself as a forum script.

    Phpbb is good. You just need to get an seo mod with url rewrite.

    I have SEO hacks on phpBB, myBB, VB and SMF. All work well. Depends on your skills and what changes you made. All can be great at this

    Just like dojo said, all can do great. However, if you want to keep it as simple as possible, you can better choose for vBulletin with vbSEO installed on it.

    Any forum currently requires to have some special modification installed, and installing mods is -in my experience- easiest in vBulletin.
    vBulletin: vbSEO, vRewrite (outdated but still working), Zoints SEO (use on own risk), [Naxon] mod_rewrite
    phpBB: phpBB SEO, Magic SEO URL
    SMF: SMF SEO
    MyBB: MyBB SEO 1.0
