Whats the best Rock act ever?
Ill go with The Wipers, one of the most underrated bands but also one of the most influential once. The guys started grunge waaaaaay before it ever hit the Seattle area.
Just listen to "D-7" and youll know what Im talking about!

    Never heard of "The Wipers".

Too many good bands for me to come up with the best.

Oasis or Metallica, they're my favorite. But it's impossible to say who is the best because music is subjective.

    Oasis is quite cool!
Yeah, I agree that music is subjective, so I was just interested in what everyone is into.
    Thread should be purely IMHO!

Ummm...hello? How can so many people be so wrong? The best rock band ever is Led Zeppelin. If you disagree, you are wrong :) How can anyone say that the band responsible for this list of albums
    Led Zeppelin (1969)
    Led Zeppelin II (1969)
    Led Zeppelin III (1970)
    Led Zeppelin IV (1971)
    Houses of the Holy (1973)
    Physical Graffiti (1975)
    Presence (1976)
In Through the Out Door (1979)
    Coda (1982)

    and the tracks

    Achilles Last Stand (Presence)
Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin IV)
    Ramble On (Led Zeppelin II)
Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin II)
No Quarter (Houses of the Holy)
    Heartbreaker (Led Zeppelin II)
The Battle of Evermore (Led Zeppelin IV)
    Kashmir (Physical Grafitti)
    The Rover (Physical Grafitti)
What Is and What Should Never Be (Led Zeppelin II)
Houses of the Holy (Physical Grafitti)
    The Wanton Song (Physical Grafitti)
The Ocean (Houses of the Holy)
Bring It On Home (Led Zeppelin II)
    Trampled Under Foot (Physical Grafitti)
    Ten Years Gone (Physical Grafitti)
Over the Hills and Far Away (Houses of the Holy)
    Dazed and Confused (Led Zeppelin)
    Thank You (Led Zeppelin II)
In My Time of Dying (Physical Grafitti)
    Moby Dick (Led Zeppelin II)
The Rain Song (Houses of the Holy)
The Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin III)
Good Times, Bad Times (Led Zeppelin I)
The Song Remains the Same (Houses of the Holy)

isn't the best rock act ever? No one has driven modern rock more than Led Zeppelin, and frankly no one has made rock music the same sine they split up.

Led Zeppelin has a lot of great songs, but for a lot of people Led Zeppelin is a old band. They were certainly before my time. IMO the best rock band ever is Rise Against.

Wait, you disagree? You're wrong. :) See that was a joke, don't take it too seriously. Everyone has an opinion and no one's opinion is right or wrong. If you take this stuff too seriously you'll drive yourself crazy, because on the internet, everyone is wrong. Of course everyone is right to. It is all a matter of who they are talking to.

What? No Pink Floyd? No Megadeth? No mention of Alice Cooper? :D

I see a few of my favorite bands in this thread. Van Halen is another one that comes to mind. Good memories there. But Metallic always wins in my book.

    Definitely Zepplin.

But who is your favorite, though slightly obscure artist? I have to go with Ian Hunter. Now if any of you wet behind the ears kiddies out there can name 2 of his songs (which anyone over 30 will know) I will be entirely shocked. And no cheating, no Googling him. I'll give you a hint for one of them, the band that remade this song was involved in a night club tragedy in the not too distant past. Any guesses?

New York Dolls? A man (I think) after my own heart. David Johanson had to be one of the homliest cross dressers in history.
