I'm not sure if this is the proper category, but I suppose someone could "trade" sites with me. I'm just wondering about starting up my own web hosting site using the HostGator Reseller package. Before I do this, is there any better web hosting reseller's out there? I mean major companies like HostGator, GoDaddy, etc. I don't really trust those that are run in people's basements. So, "trade" your sites. Thanks.

Hi Drew, i understand your concern for not getting your site hosted in a basement! =] There are alot of qualified companies out there that will easily be able to suite your situation. Hostgator is known for overselling their servers, but when you choose to host with a "giant" company such as the ones you listed, it seems that customer/technical support is not as great. I have dealt with these companies in migrating people off their servers and generally its a nightmare... Best of luck!
Hostgator oversells its space for shared hosting (they even say that in their blog) but I do not think it is the case for a reseller account as they have reasonable space for reasonable prices and people are really espected to fill the space.
It's great to see someone on this forum not looking for a one time payment reseller account or unlimited space and bandwidth. Just a note though there are other options other than the HostGators of the world that are not run out of a basement. This forum just gives a bad name to all hosts that aren't bringing in millions of dollars a month. A smaller one can provide a much more personal touch then say HostGator due to the fact you may talk to the same technician more than once. You just need to make sure smaller hosts run their company out of their web site. Not out of some discussion forum. So all their support is done through their site, maintenance notices all of that. That's what really tells you if they're a real business or not.
