I was just wondering what would be a good ratio between impressions and clicks. For example, if my ad had 20k impressions and 16 clicks...is that about average? I always found it difficult to analyze marketing programs based on impressions and clicks alone to justify continuing the program. Is there a thresh hold I should take into consideration? At what point should I say "This isn't performing as expected" and cancel it? Thanks for any advice.
No, that is my personal thing. I'm asking in regards to the company I work for. I handle all things internet related for them, which would mean that I would already know the answer to my question, but I came on board mainly for SEO and not online marketing. So Im still learning the ropes in the marketing world. Sorry...should have specified.
Depending on how your advertising it's a bit different, atleast in my experience. For example with Email Marketing, our team would consider 1.0% CTR average, 2.0%+ = good. For Adwords we used the following general baseline: <3% = poor 3% = Average 3%+ = good to excellent etc We used the same general idea for Overture, except the baseline was 5%. But that was just our experience. However, we had a wide range of clients both B2B and B2C.
We sell satellite tv services and equipment. Our online ads show what specials and deals we have going, etc.. Show if we have alot of impressions (like the example I gave in my op) how what CTR do we think we be on average, or doing well?
If the ads looks like adsense 16 clicks from 20k impressionsis really nothing. Its very hard to estimate, but as long as you dont hide your ads away, I would expect AT LEAST 500 cliks. Others may have different opinions.
