Best query for seeing G backlinks

    I've seen numerous examples of how to get an accurate list and number of Links Google is currently making available.

    link:www.addy.com
    link: www.addy.com
    @addy.com
    link: asdweqwe:www.addy.com (this is the one where you click "links to this site"

    Can anyone advise which is the most reliable. There are inconsistent results between them.

    Only the first one is the right one. Adding a space makes it a normal two word search yielding you nothing interesting.

    I would suggest:
    @domain.com -site:domain.com

    That doesn't give him the backlinks, just instances of his domain written out.

    imo
    google for keyword "www.yoursite.com" it gives more info than link command.

    What kind of bull is that? It's not close - it's something completely different. It's a nonsense search yielding nothing of interest for those wanting to know how many links they have. Checking Yahoo and MSN is way more accurate.

    Do you think link command in Google is better than that?

    The resulting numbers aren't better, but at least every one of them is a link. Your search shows e-mail addresses and the domain written out - which potentially gives you way more "links" than you have. An underestimate is better in that sense.

    But like I said, use Yahoo and MSN, your logs, the Google API and some more tools to gauge the total. You'll never know how many Google really counts though.

    EDIT: LOL at calling my previous post bad arguments... Like "it's pretty close.." is a good argument :rolleyes: In fact, you haven't even explained what your search does so don't tell me I'm not argueing my point well here...

    The official way. But Google shows too few.

    If you really want to see all links you have to your site, and you are not willing to use yahoo's site explorer, I would recommend

    link: www.addy.com
    @domain.com -site:domain.com

    These are not accurate results. some are not valid links, and other even aren't links.

    You are joking right? Ever actually tried that search? Any idea what the space does?

    Might as well search:

    [showmethelinksof: www.domain.com]

    Again, a nonsense search...

    I rest my case, had enough of this.

    LOL at this thread.

    Google only shows a few of your links. Fact.

    If you want to see more of your links use Yahoo or MSN.

    In all the search engines the query is link:http://www.domain.com

    yeah this is best i think. Not many instances where your site is written out and is not a link. You can estimate how many links from this better than site:blah.com

    What about the important anchor text links you may have built up?
