The best proofreading will be done by a human, not software. I've yet to find any that truly catches the bulk of grammatical errors.

If you mean to minimize the possible sentence structure errors then go for MS Word.
    It's your best choice.

Why would anyone need proof reading software? Last time I looked humans did the job just fine. Unless you don't have a good grasp of the English language - then you're pretty much up the creek anyway. I have seen some Chinese manuals translated with the use of "software". It's good for a heck of a laugh. Most of it doesn't even make the remotest sense. So forget the software and hire a human proof reader. Best option every time.

PS If anyone thinks that a computer will ever be able to write or edit or proofread as well as a human, think again. Maybe in 50 years from now when computers are self aware and ruling the world. :)

Quick tip... read your finished work aloud.
This is a great way to spot any mistakes.

    I hope this helps. :)

Programs will never replace what a human can do.

For example, if I wrote "its time for lunch" - a proofreading "program" would not pick that up as being incorrect, and would pass it. However, it is wrong, because there isn't an apostrophe in "its" as there should be. For that reason, proofreading software is extremely fallible. Most basic errors can be caught in MS Word, but for a more in depth analysis, you need a person.

Firefox suggestions usually are enough for my accidental typo, but i don't think its good with pronunciation, if you need something for an article, I'd use Word/open office 3

Proof reading software.. hmm let me guess... we need these things,

    1. Word Processing tool (like MS word)
    2. A Web browser (like firefox)
    3. An Internet connection (And access to the google compulsory)
    4. And a person who actually knows what proof reading is ... (And it is not done by some software) :)

I agree with this line. Anyway, after searching google, I find the following software:

If by proofreading you mean by spelling mistakes, lots of programs already have it built in. If you want grammatical errors, than I think there are no programs, but your own eyes and brain!

Like many have said already, software can't replace the human ability when it comes to grammar.
