I'd go with textmate. Dreamweaver uses up too much of my system's resources, it becomes a drag switching between programs especially when I have parallels open.
TextEdit is a Windows program thats free. If I remember right it color codes html so you can reference easier than using notepad helps in debugging. I've used Dreamweaver for a long time now but that is what I started with.
Far, far from it. You don't know vi, do you. If anyone thinks they need Dreamweaver, or anything similar, to write html pages for a small site, shouldn't be creating web pages.
Dreamweaver IS very easy to use already. If you want something even easier to use, try Namo WebEditor (http://www.namo.com/). But it's not recommended because Namo WebEditor does not support XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.1 well (CSS3? Is it delicious?). Only good for people who know nothing about HTML.
If you want free and dependable, as was mentioned before, NVU is hard to beat. My number one is Dreamweaver though.
Don't bother with Dreamweaver because then you've got 2 things to learn. A good HTML course - see sig - , Notepad and a browser and you're on your way. Good luck Mike
Microsoft expression web all the way for me. I really like working on it. or else notepad or Dreamweaver.
i started out with notepad but have since upgraded with dreamweaver cs4, it is extremely convient and even has an ftp uploader built in
My vote goes for DreamWeaver..... start with HTML + Notepad and get your hands on basic coding then move ahead for "DreamWeaver" [ ref : w3schools.com for HTML ]
I like dreamweaver or phpdesigner 2008... but if you're just after a text editor, i like notepad or notepad2
On the net you can find a lot of Html Editing software , but if you re looking for the best , then there is not doubt that the winner is: Dreamweaver. I really like it. Is the most professional and stable of all. I hope it can be useful for you.
