Best program for compressing images

    Hi,

    I'm looking for a program that can compress images so the FILESIZE will be smaller but the width and height remain the same! and the file should stay the same extension (so not compressed by zip, rar, other compression methods for archiving lots of files) just reducing the filesize!

    Does anyone know a good freeware program for this? i need to do this for over 500.000 images.

    I've been using Advanced JPEG Compressor for some time and it did really good work. Granting that your images are JPGs.

    But are there good programs also for PNG and even GIFs?

    This would require a different program, as they are very format-oriented.
    For PNGs you can use PNGOut.
