Hey DP, new-ish to the forums. Been a long time creeper just reading and now I'm seeking some help on something please. Assuming this category is the right place as it's a marketing thing I'm doing. I'm launching a new business and giving away a free product but don't know which of these products to use. The business is geared towards the Urban Man but women would also be shopping the site for their man as well. Here are the products I want to give away but can only give away one, which do YOU think is the best item to giveaway that everyone would want in today's society? Sunglasses (choose around 24 colors) - the retro 90's looking ones, stylish Watch (simple professional looking watch but of course inexpensive) iPhone lightning charger cable / Android mini USB cable (they choose) Men's Tie (choose over 24 colors as well) Men's cuff links Tie Clip (either silver polish or gold finish) Earphones Out of those, what would be more attractive for the consumer? If you have other ideas on items, please feel free to let me know as I'm looking to launch this campaign sometime next week. Thanks for your help!
If you are offering all these items then you obviously have access to a large inventory. So why not offer your potential clients a choice? Allow them the freedom to choose. What I have a curiosity about is the obvious value of these items. They all seem rather expensive. I hope that in your quest to launch big, that you are not going to dig yourself into a big hole in the process. Good luck to you with whatever you decide to do.
It I had a fishing site, I would give away fishing lures... believe it or not, you can get lures in bulk for cheap, then give them away like eye candy... If i were to give away good items like op, then Iwould setup a site content, and whoever brings the traffic in, gets the prize, and you can find content plugins out there, and I think there is a contest service that you can just add on your site...I have heard of affiliate sites doing this, having a decent level of success...
Well it's not that I have the vast majority of these things. It's that I can get them all for inexpensive. Let's just say by ordering bulk I can get most of these things for as little as .50 to .2 per. But we're kind of going off topic here. I'm looking to see what gift you all like the best to start ?
Why not give away a gift card to your online store? There are too many variables for us to choose a product. What's the quality like? What is your exact demographic besides "urban man"? Urban males from United States are a little different than Canada. From my experience, American "Urban Males" don't tend to do a whole lot of online shopping.
Sunglasses could be good Watch no, too personal charger cable could be good Men's Tie could be good but what % of your clientele do jobs that require a tie, more and more offices are "smart casual" and then you get the huge number that aren't in offices at all Men's cuff links nope, didn't they go out in the '70s? Tie Clip see tie comments Earphones you can never have too many of these hanging around
If it involves jumping through hoops I, honestly, do not want any of those. Just not worth the trouble. So what does it all involve?
I also think he is jumping ahead of himself, straight up, most businesses fail... he is already planning ahead by offering free merchandise from a future business? maybe he should get the business off the ground, and if your service is in demand, and you are profitable, then start offering contest programs.... like matt says, you can never go wrong with a gift card, at this point, then you just about have 100% attention rather then just 10%.....
This is getting way to detailed. lol. Let's just say my costs are ZERO honestly. Which items do you like is all that I'm getting at. Let me worry about where the $$ goes and other things like that. I have it all under control. I just want an answer to my regular question please. Thanks
I'm good with everything except the watch, like what sarahk said, it's too personal. But if we're splitting hairs, I would go for the sunglasses.
Nope, us wapish types tend to live in the suburbs. The city is for work and sporting events, then we go back to our bedroom communities to live. Here's why...
I am the opposite of all the other opinions there. I'd go with the watch. Granted I'd never wear it myself, but I'd give it as a gift to my step-son.
We tend to say things are urban or rural and suburbs are just a subset of urban. Probably if I talked to a town planner I'd find I have it all wrong but it's how it's used by laymen. Funny how Americanisms flood into our lives via Netflix, movies etc and yet we still cling to our local ideas.
That's why I was hoping for a better description of the OPs target market. Something like... 25 - 35 College Graduate Single Annual Salary of $100,000+ With this in mind, they probably have a very specific style. I would give away something practical, like the phone charger. This way, if they don't need it, they can give it to their assistant and feel good about giving them a gift. However, like Rand Fishkin says... it takes an average of 7 interactions with a business before most people decide to do business with them. I really don't think this campaign is going to yield any results. However, as stated by the OP, I'll let him worry about that.
