Best Practices for getting in the search engines

I've been thinking about what would be the best methods to get the google bot to visit your page early on. I'm working on alunching a new site and I would like for the bot to visit it as soon as possible ( I guess thats what everyone wants

I've been working on obtaining links form various sites and I've linked from my related sites, but I'm jsut wondering if anyone knows a trick for getting the bot to go crazy that they would share.

 

Good links and fresh content updated every day. There're no more tricks. Maybe you can try a Google's Sitemap

 

Id recommend a blog, as long as you update it regularly, applying a blog to my most recent site got me listed in G in around 3-4 weeks.

 

Too much time

Some good links and you'll get indexed in two-three days, that's the normal.

 

depends on your site if your hitting a competitive market e.g mobiles takes a while m8

 

A similar question was asket to Matt Cutts (Google) 3 days ago and he answered in his blog:

My conclusion: get quality links and do not do things that make your site hard to crawl. Nothing very new.

So work on my links. That's what I thought. I did notice both the google and yahoo bots came to visit last night. The did not crawl very deep, but they stopped by. Hopefully I'll get a few pages to show up in a few days.
