When u guys design websites? how do u go about doing so? do u design the whole template in photoshop and slice them? or do u design the template parts by parts, like, designed the header first, followed by body etc etc

I usually start off with a basic layout or template using css or frames. Then I'll design the navigation and add all the graphics and images. And last I'll make the subpages. Some sites are different and have to be developed differently, but generally it's easiest for me to start off with the layout then add the graphics.

Whether it be for myself or as a mock up for a client, I always have an idea before hand and I start the layout with whatever I see in my head.

I will have the whole site layout envisioned first and then I will tweak it and adjust it from there.

I draw wire diagrams-- boxes representing stuff, and write in what does what and what goes where, on paper. When my colleagues or the boss are happy with what I've got, and if I have my colours decided, I build in HTML and go from there. If I need a quick graphic, I'll go find something to be a placeholder while I continue to build the site, then later get or make the proper one later (usually with GIMP but also with Flash for vectors cause I'm lazy and forgot how to use Inkscape).

I design out the basic layout of the site in Photoshop first, and then I get DreamWeaver and Photoshop open (Ah, behold the power of a Core2 Duo on OS-X) and tab back and forth between them, building the site in dreamweaver and cutting parts of the PSD out with the box-marquee tool and uploading it to my server to make sure it's all working properly.

In all reality, there is no "proper" way, some of you will most likely shun me for how I work, likewise, I may do the same to you. It's all about what works best for you.
