i have a WP blog and now expanding to to build a membership forum site using Buddypress (BP). Will you add BP to the existing blog or create another subdomain or sub-folder for the membership forum?

need some opinions here. any advices?

I don't see any reason to put Buddypress on a subdomain of the same blog..that would mean a seperate installation of Worpdress, which makes no sense.

All of the functions and features have their own pages and if it integrates into your existing theme, there shouldn't be a problem.
Just use the template pack plug in:

    Thanks for your feedback!

I am thinking to install separately so that it would not disrupt my present site. install a new buddypress site may give me more control by having 2 sites. of course i may go through the trouble of maintaining 2 sets of configuration.

i have no success with the template pack with my mystique theme. maybe i should try again.

I had the same problem with BP on my themes. I ended up just installing MU and redoing the whole site. It was worth it, but I can see how you wouldn't want to do that with an existing site.
The template pack is good, and it works, but it is not so easy to implement if you are using a complicated theme like a magazine style, or if you have made any custom theme edits.

I was trying to implement the BP template pack on an existing theme and it wasn't working for me (the theme had too many options and template settings) , and I also wanted the blog network capability, which can't be done with WP single user, so I just redid my whole site..new WPMU installation, new theme and everything.
It wasn't a big deal for me since it wasn't a busy site.

haha! i had the same experience... and i also end up redo my site with WPMU.

that is why i am seeking opinions if I should install BP into my present site or another blog in WPMU.
