    Hey,

I'm starting a local forum for my hobbies and would like to place local sponsor banner ads in the forum.
I have tried searching for examples but unable to find any.

I was thinking have having them between forum headings and then once in there for that group any sub forums would have the same sponsor ads.
    or
Should I do banner ads on the right hand side?

what do you suggest? what works for you?

Rule of Thumb dictates don't have the banner pop out in front of the users page. that would make the person leave and never return, i know i would.

Personally, I use Google Ads, not local as my site is not a local one. So as my site is general, I do not show ads to my members, as I do not want to spam them. If you are going to put in actual ads to local sites or businesses that's likely not the way to go... but if you ever opt to go with a mass network like Yahoo or Google for ads, then please consider not spamming your members any more then you need too. Their continued content should be payment enough for ya ;)
