Wanted to know in which language should I ask developers to make a online shopping website ?
Php/MySQL or Windows platform or others ?

@Mod: I guess, this is the best section to ask !

I'd say PHP/MySQL. Windows is unsecure and slow.

I guess php/mysql since ASP.net is more complicated and requires special server configurations...
but why don't you use free carts like PRESTA SHOP ?

What about Ruby on Rails or something done in Ruby? They already have a library for dealing with credit cards and payment processors. It called http://www.activemerchant.org/ and it is currently used by Shopify.

Also why you have to build it from scratch? Wouldn't be better to use some already built solution?

I have setup a store using Drupal+Ubercart one time with PayPal integration. Kind of messy, but is very powerful.
Also you should take a look at Magento and osCommerce.
You should also try Shopify and Big commerce as very simple but powerful solutions.
