Hello Everyone, I'm trying to figure out where I would like to move to. I'm 20 years old and right now I live with my parents. I plan to move out on my own within 6-9 months. I'm wanting to go some where beautiful and warm. I don't know if I want to live by the ocean but I do know I don't want to live in California. I also like little towns such as the one in "Mr. Deeds" where the grass is real green and the people are real nice. Anyone know some good places to check out?
Myself i would be worried about the hurricane and tornadoes they have quite a few every year--get you a Texas Farm thats the way to go.LOL
Well I'm kinda partial since I was born and raised and still live here, but I've lived in about a dozen cities, four states, and 2 continents, and i can safely say that I love Houston, Texas. And no, it's not like in "the movies", where everyone wears comboy hats, is a rich oil tycoon, and goes around trying to lynch black people. Stupid Hollywood.
I would recommend Austin, Texas, nice and clean place to live. College town so for someone your age you will have lots of fun. Myself since I'm a bit older I leave next to the ocean.
Take it from the Texan....Houston is okay...Austin is okay...Dallas is okay.... But Iowa is the best! Moved here when I retired....that skewed those figures of retirees going south! Wife is an Iowan, and I did promise her a few years ago to retire here. Only way I could get her to move to Texas....LOL And now, in a nice small town south of Des Moines, and loving it! So think Iowa as a great place to move to. Now to find out where to bill the Iowa government for this plug!
I won't say Cape Cod, Ma or Portsmouth, NH because I don't think that you like the snow. I do, particularly blizzards. Of course I enjoy the sunshine but only during the summer. That's where I am planning to move and do business in the next few years. Meet you there for a beer?
Grew up in Massachusetts and Maine. But once I went back to Texas, never again missed the snow. Until I moved to Iowa...now back into loving snow (of course, being retired, I can stay in and watch others outside).
I may be partial since I was born raised and still live here but I think Austin TX is the best place in the world.
I agree. Austin is great. It's near the Texas Hill and wine country. The scenery is great. There's a lot of cool small towns in the general vacinity such as New Braunfels. It's also near the Comal and Guadelupe rivers (cool tubing and rafting place). It's also near great water park in Gruen, Texas (Schliterbaun - probably misspelled). It's not far from Lake Travis (pretty lake) which has a restaurant on a cliff that overlooks the lake. It's not too far from the Gulf, but not too close. We typically drive down there once a year to either go on the wine trail or see other attractions. Anyway, good luck with your search.
