Just curious, are there any sites that are similar to the contests forum in that you can get submissions from multiple artists and then decide which one you like the best?

Most people I know oif use thumbtack or freelancer but there are also some other lesser known companies like Digital Spinner.com and backpage.com where you can find good designers at cheap rates, I would know as I am on those sites with my web design company

Ive used logogarden.com in the past. Its more of a DIY thing than hiring out, but you can easily put whatever logo onto business card or incorporate it with web design

99designs is a good place however, mostly directed to people who do have some cash to spend, an avg of $350 for a logo is a bit high IMO. Freelancer is a good place too, however, many good designers out there who can produce some great work for quite low prices ($50-$99) just google it and you will find a lot

Thank you for posting your questions. To the OP, I just want to know first if you have a sizable budget for your logo design and website design. How serious are you to create your brand? Are you willing to spend extra to achieve a solid brand logo and a responsive website?

I am asking the questions above because my answer will depend on your answer. If you are only willing to spend a meager budget, then you have no choice but to go with those freelancer sites. I hear good news about 99designs.com (contest-based) and designquote.net(bid-based). If you have substantial (I say appropriate) budget for your branding, then I suggest you hire a professional. It is always wise to go with the expert when it comes to crucial aspect of your business like establishing a brand. You can start looking at How Magazine's design directory.

    I wish you well.

Post a $100 contest on Freelancer or even here and you will see that you can get the same results as a $350 contest on 99designs

Ive used 99designs but didnt get any designs that I liked. Ive also used CrowdSpring and got good results but paid a lot ($400). I'd like to try out the forum on here or find someone that would do a design for less (under $100). Need a few designs for some shirts.

I would recommend running a contest instead. That way, you'll have a wider selection of ideas to choose from. You can host your contest here at DigitalPoint and save lots of money from having to pay a dedicated graphic designer. You can also try Fiverr.
