Best PHP Forum System for Custom Integration?

I have a client who wants to integrate a forum system into his account system in development.

I'm thinking of using a forum system, disabling the registration system, creating my own registration form that creates accounts for both his system and the forum, and binding the logins somehow.

What's the best PHP forum system for this do you think? Any pointers or documentation you can send my way?

if you are looking for a free forum script then I believe that MyBB suits best for integration and customization.

And, if the client is running his accounting system on Windows, there's an LDAP plugin (MyBBLDAP) that will allow Windows users to use their Windows login to log into MyBB. (It'll keep track of change to the Windows password too.)

 

ive always used phpbb for custom integration jobs, real simple actually

 

I tried out a few forums, and phpBB seems to be the one that's easiest and "prettiest" from out-of-the-box. Also plays well with other systems, and can be modified to some extend.

 

I would advive you to use phpbb forum which is best to customize theme and you can even add required plugin so that it looks better

 

I've used smf for years. I don't recommend this script. I could't see any change for years.
