    I really suggest to use wordpress/drupal. Also if the newest Joomla has improved it core and use MVC.

    ALL Small-Medium sized sites: WORDPRESS (this probably covers 95% of the internet)
    Complex sites with user hierarchy / forums / complex structure : DRUPAL
