For All DP Members, Which paid directories do you know have helped your search engine rankings this year and which directories do you think would help in 2007? Please mention only those paid directories for 2006 which you have actually submitted and noticed improvements in serps because of the submissions. For the directories which you have not submitted but think can help in serps, you can mention those in Paid Directories for 2007. I would start with mine: Best Directories for 2006 Yahoo Business.com Bcentral Best Directories for 2007 Yahoo Business.com Bcentral botw.org What paid directories do you think would make a difference in the coming year?
I haven't submitted to any of those, i rather get 10 smaller links for the same price for a 90% improvement for sure...
it seems I would've to remove bcentral from my list for 2007 as it would not allow me to add any new sites to my account - I was trying today but couldn't do it - anyone knows a way for getting new sites listed in bcentral directory?
what i have experienced is unless your site is in both dmoz + google directory, you wont get significant boost in SERPS. Even inclusion in yahoo directory only helps a little. Rest of directories only helps in backlinks for PR purpose.
dmoz and google uses same data so just dmoz is needed. As for the other directories I honestly think it will take a good directory a couple of years for it to really weight on the SERP's. Time and persitance is needed to reach that of dmoz standard. Just my opinion.
One that really stands out in my mind is Site-Sift. It really helped my rankings this year for a ton of my sites. It passes high PR and offers stong internal links. It should be on the list as one of the greatest directories of 2007.
You need to contact customer service with last 4 digit of credit card and tell them how many site you need.
We are in yahoo it is worth to spend $300 for lots of traffice more link popularity. You can find us at yahoo http://search.yahoo.com/search/dir?h=c&p=a1directorysearch.com Good Luck
I wasn't familiar with botw.org until I saw this posting. Is this site worth the $199 initial set-up fee? If not, is the reoccurring fee worth it? Thanks!
In my opinion a fee of $199.95 is way too much. I don't see botw being any substantially different from other PR7 directories that charge far less.
Interesting. How many other directories are 13 years old? How many other directories are adding tens of thousands of sites weekly? How many other directories offer a blog directory and vertical directory, as well as a web directory? How many other directories are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars per year on marketing, both offline and on? I'm not going to try to defend our price points - either it makes sense for you or it doesn't. Only you can be the judge of that. However, I will argue that we are indeed substantially different from just about any other directory out there.
Charlie, The problem I have with the more expensive directories is that there is a high risk that it's a waste of money. My product sells for $40 - unless the directory can guarantee 5 sales a year, I'm going backwards fast. I can generally afford to waste $20 - $40 on a directory listing, but $200 I'm much more cautious. At the end of the day, I decided not to submit my sites to BOTW, and spend my money on other directories instead. I'd love to believe that your site is good value, and don't get me wrong it's a great site, but I'm hesitant to take the risk. It's really hard to know if a directory is worth the spend until you actually spend the money. My opinion is that a paid directory needs to bring in measureable foot traffic - not just link juice (which is very hard to measure).
well, I can't speak for you if it's worth or not as that's a call only you can take however, the trust rank algo provides enough reason for this to be a good listing for me - just my 2 cents.
