Best page counter service?

I was looking at my YPN impression stats and noticed that less than 20% of my traffic is actually viewing threads in my forums. I'm not exactly sure what they are doing, but would like to find out so I can optimize my ad placement.

For example, I have an ad that is displayed inside the final post in a thread. This ad averages around 3,800 impressions a day. The header ad averages 34,000 impressions a day.

I've been using histats.com, but it doesn't exactly give me a good idea of what my members/visitors are doing. I need something that shows stats per page. I'd like to use a remote service instead of a program that reads the apache logs.

    Any suggestions?

Google Analytics is by far the best free web monitoring analytics program; with proper use of click tracking you can follow your visitors and see what exactly is going on.

Is Analytics better than it was when it launched? I remember trying it when it was first released ad it REALLY slowed down my website.

    edit: thanks for the replies.

It's very good right now and it doesn't slow down the sites.

You won't regret it. Google Analytics provides very detailed information for just about anything that happen on your site :)

Yeah... google has been treating me well. Much better than it was the first tiem I used it.

If your site gets under 10,000 views a day try Woopra. It is in beta and takes a couple weeks to get approved... but it is amazing. Live stats!

Not good for heavy traffic sites though. My 10,000 views are up by the time I wake up in the morning.
