Hi all, I want to start a forum and looking for some good opensource cms for it. Please share you knowledge.
Hey I use SMF for my forum and I`m satisfied. Good system with many mods and templates. Also it have easy admin panel
You could go with Joomla! CMS (GPL licensed, under the umbrella of OpenSourceMatters) and use the Kunena component to set up your forum. You can find documentation and more on forum [DOT] joomla [DOT] org. Good luck! Claudia A.
myBB is best opensource cms for forum... you can find many free themes for it. for example http://mods.mybb.com/uploads/previews/38658-1323615012-index.png http://mods.mybb.com/uploads/previews/38658-1323615055-threadlist.png
I too vote for MyBB. SMF does not have a decent like / notifications system. You can also try Vanilla or Discourse.
MyBB, SMF, VanillaForums. There are many open source, just play around and check if it works for you. The best way is to do is head over to Softaculous Demo Website in the link below and played around with the demos. https://www.softaculous.com/demos
