Hi, I'm looking to purchase a new netbook (or just small laptop) in the next 30 days and wanted to get some opinions on my best options... OS/brand: makes no difference to me. cost: under $600 I've been told to wait on buying because some new stuff is coming out soon that beats the pants off what is currently available... and that's fine, as long as I don't have to wait 6 months Thanks!
http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/asus-1201n.aspx I woudl go with this one. I have an earlier model and love it. I use it almost everywhere I go. Asus makes great products. Just read the first paragraph of the review.
I like the look of the newer Dells. They fixed the keyboard layout and have better displays. Look at the Mini 10 series for more info.
I bought a Gateway with win7 and 2 gb of RAM I dont have the model but It has AMD Athlon 64, 250 GB of HD, ATI so I liked a lot.
Asus make great netbooks. I have an Asus Eee PC 1005 HA and love it, especially the 63Wh 10.5 hr battery!

Another vote for the EeePC here. I've got a 901, and it's a little ripper. There is a large and enthusiastic Eee PC community online. Join us You need to decide on the keyboard size first. Go play with some and see what you can handle. The keyboard on my 901 is too small for me to comfortably touch type on, but it's worth it - because it's small enough to go with me wherever I go. I don't even think about "should I take my laptop with me" any more. It's just always in my bag.
I would say try out keyboard size first. I think that does make a big difference. I don't mind small keyboards, but some people might have trouble typing easily on them.
@ mamedesign. I looked on fujitsu's website, none of their ten inch have i3's in them. I looked on lenovo's website, none of their 10in models have i3's in them. I looked on toshiba's website, none of their 10in models have i3's in them. I am confused about your statement.
I think you should go for PineTrail netbooks, the ones with Atom N450 or N470 processors. If you care about HD playback in netbooks, I would recommend Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (around $425). But if you don't care about HD playback, Acer Aspire One 532h (around $350) is way to go.
this is the problem im encountering with small laptops too. i always have a typo error. tend to go home and use my desktop instead. buy those bigger once - dell ispiron looks cool.
i don't actually have an issue with them, but i am simply suggesting to try it out first. or something that is the same size. it is a really important feature of a laptop...
