It really does depend on your niche. Some websites will benefit through affiliate programs, while others would be best suited to PPC. If you can give us a URL or even a site category, then I think you'll get some better answers.
a website with good traffic doesn't guarantee anything. There are lots of high-traffic websites but they earn less than $2,000 per month.
Personally I find selling information products to be highly profitable, affiliate sites work well for me too. Adsense isnt so good as you need lots of traffic to make big money from it. wokaka is right though, even lots of traffic doesnt mean you are guaranteed lots of cash. Hope this helps
A niche website that is based on a high paying term or item, a site which has no competitors, a site which has a high OVT, Also a veyr high percentage of US based traffic also high organic traffic or domain based type in traffic. will be a good money maker. You can have a site with huge traffic from a area such a South America and it will pay little to nothing.
It's not easy to make money through websites. You need to target specific niche which I think may be difficult for some. Otherwise it's very difficult to make money through websites.
After being on the net since it started....... I still think the top money makers are porno..... although as a christian, I stay away from that crap as much as possible, but I tell ya........ it still just seems to get stronger and stronger in demand

As was mentioned before, something with little competition but still a bit of interest. If you have something unique then you could even get traffic from directories (which hardly ever happens with popular niches).
Just find a problem that people have and sell them the solution. People will pay all sorts of cash to get their problems fixed. And porn

I think the best website has all of these features: 1) A unique theme. 2) Lots of content. 3) Good amount of traffic. 4) Ads and affiliate programs. 5) Capable of making good revenue. 6) Attracts people everywhere.
