Best Methods in Marketing a Funny Image Site??

I am doing a case study and am looking at the various options to market a funny image site. The most obvious ways I can think of is to use social networking sites such as Facebook (& fb Pages), Twitter and others. What other methods of proven marketing tactics are there to bring users to a funny image site while retaining some what of the user base.

I could see tumblr being useful however only to a certain extend as most of the traffic probably won't filter through.

Any constructive thoughts and ideas are welcomed and appreciated.

 

Using Social Media websites--You can join Fun groups. and add more & more Funny images to your websites as well as share it in all groups & social media websites.

 

I think there will be threads asking how to market funny websites all the time.

 

Make sure you have a share option for your users, referral traffic is a key component in the success of a funny image style site.

 

Viral scripts is great way to go. I see plenty of those going on facebook and many of my buddies share those even by not knowing it but this might be seen as BlackHat a bit and might result in your app ban.
What I like what is being done by big guys is spotify viral marketing. They activtly show what users are doing on their app all of this shows up on news feed.

You need a really good domain. Right now, I own RottenHumor.com and UglySOB.com, which would be good for this.

 

I would say that as long as domain is short and easy to remember it's ok to do it . 9gag kills it

I think Pinterest would probably be great for traffic for marketing a funny images site.

 

You could try and create a compilation of your videos and try to build up some traffic from YouTube?

 

I think you idea is correct. Funny images , animations always attract users. So itz quite good to import images on websites.
