    Buy a chewbacca mask?
    Get confused about pizza slices?
Those guys got lucky and went viral on the cheap, while most people have gone to considerable effort to get noticed.

Much depends upon the demographics of the audience/market you are trying to target. Are you looking to teenagers in Europe or senior citizens in Asia or middle-aged adults in the U.S.? Makes a big difference, of course.

Do you want them to spend money (how much?) or just click on ads?

With that small budget, I would try starting with Google AdWords or perhaps Bing Ads. Bing Ads have less reach but are cheaper. I would stay away from Facebook ads as they rarely produce buyers, in my experience.

You two - he already told that ;)

I would suggest to try out Facebook video ads. Tried out recently and with some tweaking I got total of 72 subs overnight for $20, later on that night they produced 5 sales in total worth $40~. BUT for the next 2 days when I increased my campaign budget - I am not reaching any good results at all. But I would suggest to play around with small budgets and you might find something good.

Just to point out, AdSense is not a traffic source. It's the other way around. Unless you meant to say AdWords.

And honestly, none of these methods will allow you to achieve high traffic since your advertising goal is based on a what if. "What if my site is picked up by the search engines as I do a paid advertising and I'll start getting high organic traffic as a result..." or "What if my site goes viral..." Chances are your site will not be noticed by the search engines. Chances are your site is not going to go viral. Chances are you will waste a ton of money for nothing. I've done AdWords since 2004 on and off, it has never been a key factor in getting organic traffic. AdWords is good when you have a solid product or service to sell.
