I would see if directories would except you by submitting your domain to them. Even though it can some times be costly try google adwords. Make a squidoo or hub page and put your link on the site. There are probably others so keep researching but my mind has gone blank!!! Hope this helps

Most of them already have established and loyal reader base, which trust the author's opinion. You simply have to convince the blogger (with money, a free product or with really good quality) that he/she should write and recommend your website to his/her readers and subscribers. The other most cost effective promotion you can do is to contact people, who have big mailing lists related to love, sex, dating, adult and so on... Than bribe them with something or set an affiliate program for them. Hopefully they will write a few good words about your company in their mailing lists and voila - cheap instant high-converting traffic eager to buy. There are also much more long term strategies like SEO, SMM....but for now you can kick start your business with a couple of hundred sales just with few hours of good research and some advertising budget. Even though you may not consider it adult it is actually adult. I would use like said above adbrite or use one of the many other adult advertising services. Adult is hard to advertise from what I have heard on here because of all of the reputations of the advertising companies and the amount of spam in the industry just like gambling.
As for cost effective advertising- consider a series of post cards with a small snippet of information about your company. These brief messages tend to be read more often than traditional junk mail (in my opinion and experience). And depending on just what type of clients your are targeting, you may want to consider a mySpace account for your biz. Join groups and give helpful tips every now and then.
