hello folks, let me 1st to gave you an idea about what i'm working on, so you can help me by the best answer and the best solution. I'm trying to lunch a small website (30 products or less), probably gonna use wordpress with some ecommerce plugin or oscommerce to limit my expanses for the ecart software. I already have the hosting and the domain name, once everything is ready, I will buy an SSl certificate. I've been doing a lot of researches regarding the the payment processing, but i'm still confuse, and still need expert's advise. I was thinking about paypal Pro, but I cant pay the $30 monthly fee, as i'm not sure the website will not generate such thing in the 1st months. so what you think is the best solution for me, and is there any difference between a merchant account and processing payment?
Why not go for website payments standard instead of pro? There are no monthly fees. I don't really like paypal, but for a website generating a low turnover, it is more cost effective to use paypal than to get a merchant account. When i was calculating the most cost effective solutions for our sites i figured merchant accounts are only cheaper if the turnover is going to be $75,000 + per year. The big draw backs of merchant accounts are those annoying monthly fees, as well as some establishement or early termination fees. But you would be wise to check out your local merchant account offerings, as they vary from one country to another.
