Best Marketing Strategy For New Site?

I have a new classifieds site, http://www.vuju.com, that I would like to get off the ground.


Any suggestions on marketing the new site would be greatly appreaciated.

Well, I see you already put a link in your signature which is a good start. Submit to lots of directories or hire others to do it for you, post your own classifieds and tell friends to get content started. Maybe try to think of something unique that will attract users (I know of several large classifieds that have tons of users, so you will want something to convince people to go to your site). Maybe post prints ads?

Yeah, those are all basic suggestions sorry, I can't think of anything right now (tired). I'll revisit your thread tomorrow.

 

Add a blog!

Blogs are a great [and easy] ways of getting links.

I'm looking into purchasing promotional advertising as well.

I do not know which types of ads would be the most beneficial to increase traffic to the site.

Add a blog, write articles and press releases, use PPC advertising until your website is listed organically than cancel the PPC ads. Read all the books and materials you can find on SOE. I am reading a good book now on SOE by Jennifer Grappone, Search Engine Optimization - An Hour A Day.

 

just because you buy PPC it don’t mean you get on Google’s good site I tried it don’t work. Build your site for SEO don’t spend money on PPC unless you’re selling products. Spend your money on back links and traffic from related sites. I spend close to $300 on PPC and I got 2 new customers not worth it when im selling a product that I only get $2 for.

 

Whats your budget? What are you bringing new to the market? How are you separating yourself from CL?

 

We use articles, blogs, press releases (thru prweb.com) and cross-promotions.

 

Bulletin post to myspace. That is a good wayto get young people to your site. You could setup your own myspace spot for people to get to know you.

be ur #1 fan say it and say it proud to anyone you meet. Word of mouth is stronger then any online advertising that you can do.

Where is the best place to purchase advertising? I have looked here at DP and seen what seems to be great deals but I'm sure there are other places to purchase ads.

Initialy i think PPC would be the best option to advertise and let people know that there is your site which provides the services for that they are looking for. No doubt its bit costly but effective even.

 

But a phrase or BIG title saying in one sentence "what your site is all about". At the moment you say "it's global/local and FREE" - but leaves me a question: "WHAT is FREE? What is this site?" (I understood that from what you said here, but I'm not sure if I would have interest to do that if I'd saw your site first time).

 

best way to get traffic is, adwords, social networking. i found a new way on this site (newspaper-ads.net). they offer free newspaper advertising.
