Constant link building will be the most effective. If you would like to reach the first page on serps begin finding all the ways to increase one way and recipricol links to your site. I really found it helpful to submit to a bunch of social bookmarking sites> http://marketing-a-website.blogspot.com/2009/05/top-55-social-bookmarking-websites.html, free directories> http://www.onewaytextlink.com/, and comment on do follow blogs> http://marketing-a-website.blogspot.com/, http://makemoneydontpay.blogspot.com/, here is a directory of do follow blogs> http://www.dofollowblogs.com/index.php?c=0 anyway this is a free way to get your site out there and climb rank within the search engines which is the best type of marketing.

First of all, you need to impress them with good web design and content on your own website.

You might want to get the help from your existing customers to recommend your web development service.

There's a lot but for the first time you need to send traffic directly to your site to introduce to them..

You need a decent website, one which will make the users want to stay and Quality content. Then you can start building links for free from social medias, directories, etc.

I'll try to keep this as short and generalized as possible.

if you are marketing your site, you need relationships. None of the old marketing rules apply anymore. Interruption advertising is becoming less effective by the day. Spending huge amounts of money is probably not an option for you either.

So you need to focus on relationships. Posting in this forum is a good start. Make your site the best it can be. Put your best foot forward, and put a blog on it. In that blog, post valuable info on things people will want to read, and when the search engine traffic starts to come in, start working on turning them into customers. Build relationships with them. Get a twitter account and talk to small business owners. Do whatever you can.

I know I make it sound really easy, and it's not. But if you are starting out with no money (as I did, and most people do) you have to do whatever you can to get people's attention.

Have you thought offering 4-5 free websites to customers? This way you can use them as a testimonial, you put real companies in your portfolio, and they talk about you or your company when they tell others they got it for free. Try it out, all you'll really lose is time, but you could gain a really good start.

The most sustainable model of marketing is PPC+E-mail Marketing. PPC is extremely precise, since you're in control of the exact keywords you use to get customers to your offer. E-mail marketing is a way to monetize those customers for years to come. (if you do it the right way of course)

You should sign up to sites such as elance, odesk and other free lancing websites. There are people there who are looking for work that needs done. It will take you a while to get used to the system and build up a credible portfolio but you will be able to pick jobs your team could do today.

You might not get as much money through these programs as the people that use these sites are generally outsourcing work to places such as India but your time will be 100% focused on picking jobs and doing them rather than wasting time just trying to find clients.

Once you build up your portfolio and your business becomes more reputable then you can worry about main stream marketing.

One of the easiest and quickest ways to get high pagerank links to your site is by commenting on blogs, forums and social bookmarking sites with high page rank. Any sites you find with a page rank of 3 and higher will most likely be worth your time.

Also consider the possibility that a site with pagerank 3 today, could be a pagerank 4 or 5 in six to twelve months time. So make sure you visit these sites and give useful and helpful comments to the site owners.
