    Hi,

I am looking for a mail server which will run on windows server 2003. In an ideal world I need the following:

    1) POP3\SMTP
    2) Webmail
    3) Virus Checker
    4) SPAM Protection
    5) Secure
    6) Free or low cost (if possible)
    7) Good support \ popular product

We only have a small office with 5 staff so we don't need anything too heavy. I look forward to hearing your views. :)

    Thanks

I would say for 5 user office ms Small Business Server 2003. You get Exchange server and you get SQL server for a very good price (arround 1500 CHF, would say arround 1000 USD)

For the best price you contact your ISP and ask for a postfix POP3 account, much cheaper, but not the featurs of Exchange server.

You need to add the virus protection, several softwares out there, Symantec i am using, but several others that are just as good

I thought Windows 2003 Server already comes with a POP3 server? Or is it just the Enterprise Edition?

IIS for W3k has a built in SMTP server, have never used it. Exchange server you can share calanders and much more advanced e-mail management. I would say it is worth the extra money

(Standard W3k is arround 1000 CHF, W3K SBS is the same price, difference is SBS can only support to think it is 85 users where W3k standard is unlimited) There is the different of premium edition, that has MS sql server as well, think that costs 1600 CHF)

The plesk & mailenable combination (+ Spamassassin, drweb antivirus..) might be a good choice.
